Tohu Aroha is an authentic hands on look at the different aspects of Maori Culture, taught by local Maori Tutors who have the experience and expertise to communicate this knowledge effectively.
Ezekiel 33 Trust currently teach up to 60 children every week the value of traditional arts and their significance, whilst encouraging innovation and new directions of expression through interactive classes.
Ezekiel's aim is to:
- Encourage children to participate in the Maori Cultural performing arts.
- Instill core values of Kaupapa and Tikanga Maori.
- Strengthen identity and belonging.
- Encourage parents and families to take an active interest into their children's education and in their school.
- Provide mentoring, whakawhanaungatanga and positive role models.
Our kapa haka groups also get an opportunity to participate at all our events allowing schools an opportuity to not only showcase their cultural groups to the children's families, but also to the wider community.
