Flava Out West 2007 - The Waitemata Primary Schools Kapa Haka Competitions drew thousands of whanau from all over Waitemata. 10 primary schools competed for the No.1 spot with over 400 performers showcasing their creative skills in the art of both traditonal and contemporary maori artforms. Performances in mau rakau, poi, haka and waiata ringa graced the stages to the delight of many whanau. The unique and wonderful thing about this competition is that every group gets a trophy and a certificate for entering. This competition is designed to encourage the children to perform - so there are never any loses - only winners!
