JUNIOR STOMP 08’ CRITERIA
- Age Limit - 5yrs to 12 yrs
- Team Registration Fee - $100 plus GST ($112.50). This must be paid by the due date and it is non-refundable.
- Number of Team Members – This is strictly a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 20 members.
- Due to heavy demand, the first 20 Dance Teams registered and paid for will be accepted.
- Closing Date for Registrations - 5pm Saturday 12th April 2008
- All Dance Groups must download and complete an official application form. This application form must signed and returned with the $100 Registration Fee to either Lapi Mariner or posted to the Harvest Group Trust, P O Box 76-845, Manukau 2241 before the closing date.
- Each Dance Group must perform one dance (4 minutes – 7 minutes) for the heats. The same dance can be used for the Finals should the team qualify. However, all Dance Teams are encouraged to improve on their heat’s routine.
- All dance routines must be predominantly Christian and Pasefika based in music, lyrics, choreography and dress code. Indecency and vulgarity will not be tolerated. Dance routines are allowed no more than 10% of secular and/or non-Christian and Pasefika input.
- The top 10 Dance Groups from the day Heats will progress to the evening Finals. There will also be 3 wildcards selected by random from the remaining dance groups to complete in the evening Finals. These wildcards will be drawn in the evening.
- All Dance Groups must advise their audio and visual requirements to Lapi Mariner no less than two full weeks prior to the event. They must also professionally record and store their music on CD/DVD format only.
JUDGING CRITERIA
1. Presentation and Musical Interpretation (25%)
- · Dancing with confidence and charisma
- · Creating interest in the performance, regardless of the style
- · Responding to the music by taking the dance beyond a mere combination of patterns
2. Technique and Skill (25%)
- · The command of the fundamental elements of dance
- · The evident ease and clean execution of the performance (especially of more difficult elements).
3. Choreography and Creativity (25%)
- · The appropriate matching of body motions and footwork to the meters and rhythms of the music.
4. Christian and Pasefika Flavor (15%)
- · The judges will also be looking for an intertwining and/or interweaving of a Pasefika theme or flavor in each dance group’s routine
5. Dress Code (5%)
- · For the most creative and innovative dress wear.
6. Timing (5%)
- · Must be between 4 minutes and 7 minutes long
