Youth Development
Written by Stephanie Harawira of Ezekiel 33 Trust

sweet n sour

Ezekiel 33 have strategically put ouselves "OUT THERE" in the community to engage youth BIG TIME! We do this by way of providing a performing arts platform for these kids to connect with.

If there is one thing we have learnt, is that if you want to engage youth, then you have to come down to where their mindset is at!

Our 21st century youth are big time consumers having their finger on the pulse with label clothing, music, Hip Hop, RnB, Mobile Phones, fast cars, bebo, you tube, Xboxs, bomb art, Computers! You name it, these kids are plugging in to it.

Ezekiel 33 events attract thousands of youth from all over Auckland.

They engage because we have the right delivery mechanism.

Our Youth Shout Out Stages run from 3pm to 6pm at all our events and are designed to allow these kids a safe place to perform, where they can belong and where they can feel accepted. Having them perform in front of thousands of people, empowers them, and builds their self worth!

However, whilst we allow these kids an opportunity - THERE ARE RULES! OUR RULES!

1) Their music must be clean and green - no swearing, no promoting gang colours, no promotion of drugs, sex, gangster rap etc.

2) There is no smoking and certainly no alcohol allowed on site.

3) They need to promote "the positive" ie dont drink drive, no to drugs etc...

View our Performaners Page for more detailed Rules!

What we have been seeing is these kids are quickly cleaning up their performances to get a shot on our stages which indicates to us that we are on the right track.

Over the years we have seen groups who started as nobody's, quickly become somebody's gaining large crowd followings because of the marketing opportunity our stages are giving them!

In the last 8months, we are also finding many youth wanting to wear our red t-shirts and become part of our events crew wanting to help out. The simplicity of this is that these kids want to connect, they want to participate and they just want to belong!
