Flava Out West 2009 - Waitakere Primary Schools Kapa Haka Competitions was a huge success! Thousands turned out at Parrs Park!
Flava Out West 2009 saw Maori Kapa Haka at its best!
The Parrs Park fields packed in thousands of families who lazed and grazed enjoying their children’s performances. From 9am to 6pm, our day was busy. The children from Henderson Valley School honoured the event by hosting our powhiri and laying the foundations for the opening of The Waitemata Primary Schools Kapa Haka Competitions.
The children’s performances were exciting, challenging, stimulating and vibrant with a mix of both traditional and contemporary art forms. It was great to see so many families support their children, not only by watching and cheering the kids on stage, but also in the whole logistical exercise of pre-prep of dressing the children, putting on moko’s, packing up the children’s gear and organising cars and buses. It was an extremely successful day with great weather and great company!
